Prince of Unity
Coursera 2D Platformer assignment by Sergey Kubyshin.
I focused on re-creating the smooth movements of classical platformer games such as Prince of Persia.
Controls:
- A, D : Move left and right
- W : Jump up
- Spacebar (press and hold): grab a ledge during jump
Modifications vs. the tutorial:
- Created a new complete and consitent level
- Re-skinned the player and all player animations to a humanoid character using sprites from a classic platformer game
- Enhanced the player character mechanics with lots of new abilities:
- Smooth realistic running & turning
- Jumping up and sideways from idle and from running
- Grabbing to suitable ledges in jump and climbing up
- Added realistic falling: small falls cause no harm, larger falls cause loss of health, big falls cause loss of life
